Beggar's Chicken @ Banting, Selangor

It took us about 1.5hours drive from my Brother-In-Law's house @ Klang to reach this 'sang-ka-la' place. Don't underestimate this place, it produces the famous and original Beggar's Chicken. Even Axian from Astro visited this place before (look at the giant poster below).

Well, this place is so famous that you need to do an advance booking and is make-to-order. Yup, better do it to avoid disappointment.

Got to thank my Bro-In-Law and his wife for bringing us to this wonderful place. Your next trip to my place will be on me.



I wonder whether they trademark this logo!


What the heck are these? Stones? Well, these are what we came for, ha ha. The chicken (or other stuff) and herbs are wrapped with plastic paper. The outer layer then covered with wet dirts before cook under the glowing hot ashes.

Makan-makan @ Melaka

Guess what Melakian will recommend you to eat @ Melaka? One of those must be Hainanese chicken rice lo... Nope, it should be Hainanese chicken rice ball.

During our short trip, we managed to try out 2 of the most famous chicken rice shops along Jonker Street (aka Jalan Hang Jebat), i.e. Hoe Kee and Chung Wah. We had to wait for a long long queue for both restaurants, must be the peak season during X'mas and New Year.

Hoe Kee Chicken Rice Restaurant; very nice ambient indeed. Can you spot the round chicken rice balls?






Chung Wah Chicken Rice Restaurant; kind of typical Chinese kopitiam.









Walking along Jonker Street, you will get sweat and thirsty in no time. No wonder so many people are queuing at Jonker Desserts 88, which is famous for Cendol and Ice Kacang.









At night, we tried the famous Satay Celup @ Ban Lee Siang coffee shop. Alike Lok Lok @ Penang but instead you dip the sticks into boiled water, here with boiled Satay sauce.











It will not complete if you have not try Nyonya food at Melaka. We dropped by at the Nyonya 'Chu Cha' restaurant, i.e. Nyonya Suan Restaurant. Somehow, the food just so-so nia, at least to me. Upon return to Penang, one of my friend recommended me to try Makko Nyonya Restaurant on next trip.

Lastly, some site seeing photo around Melaka town.
A Famosa (After the Portuguese captured Melaka, they built a fortress to defend themselves. The fortress, called A'Famosa suffered severe destruction during the Dutch invasion. What's left today is just the entrance walls, still well preserved till today)


St Paul's Hill Complex (On top of St. Paul's Hill is the St. Paul's Church, once the prayer house of the Portuguese Catholics, then turned into burial ground for their noble dead by the Dutch. The tombstones have Latin and Portuguese inscriptions on them. St. Francis Xavier was buried here in 1553 before his body was moved to Goa in India)

Kolam Ikan Restaurant, Sg Kob Kulim

Personally, I'm not the person who like fish so much, especially those fresh water fishes. I cannot withstand the awful smell if the fish not fresh enough. One day, my babysitter (also 'makan-kaki') asked me and my family to tag along with her kids and it took us about 1 hour 15 minutes to reach this 'Sang-ka-la' place, somewhere in the palm tree estate. Yes, you heard it right, in the middle of palm tree estate. The owner make a few fish ponds within the estate and this make the fish so fresh-to-table. There got Sultan fish, Patin fish, 'Fei Chow' aka Talapia fish etc. After this trip, I got whole different perspective about fresh water fish, 'Ho Chiak'.





Axian make this place famous again?


Sorry, just natural aircond. Be prepared that this place got lots of flies.


Deep fried Patin fish, with light soy sauce. Highly recommended.


Steamed garlic 'Fei Chow' fish. Highly recommended.

Makan-makan @ Serdang, Kedah

Sin Aik Kee Restaurant is famous for 'Char Moi' aka Fried Porridge. Yup, they stir-fried the white overnight porridge with prawns, meats, trade secret salty meats, cuttlefish and with some thick black soya sauce.

Believe it or not, the 'Char Moi' is so good until I make a second trip within a week.

Better arrive this place before 7pm, otherwise you will get caught with huge crowd.









The appetizer, sweet and sour manggo salad. Slurp...
