Big Bro Meets Small Bro

Introducing big brother, Scanspeak 18W/8531G00 (7" midbass) and small brother, Rainbow CSX265 (6.5" midbass)

Two problems encountered during Scanspeak installation. First, the speakers cannot fit into original speaker hole due to the humongous size. Second, the door window cannot wind down entirely and it will hits the speaker's magnet.

Two problems need three solutions, Err? The first problem is easier to solve, just make the speaker hole bigger. Second problem needs some careful thoughts. At last, my installer put a small piece of wood block behind the door panel to stop the windows just before hitting the speaker. He also rewired my auto up/down power window to become manual. This is just a precaution step to prevent the window from hitting hard onto the wood block.

Final installation, nice huh.

A final word. The vocal sounded thicker and more refined than before. Now, it is time to enjoy.

Nice Speaker, but then what happen to your door trim? New/modify too?

Door trim? Do you mean the plastic door panel? I still using it as I want the original look.
